Musician Bio – Vynce Watson
Born and raised in Campbell, Ohio, Vynce began his musical path at 18 years old, picking up the electric bass and quickly finding his voice in the region’s vibrant R&B scene. He cut his teeth performing with local groups including Thunderbolt, Love's Creation, The Hump Jones Trio, and Big Boogie D, developing the deep groove and versatility that would define his career.
From 1975 to 1978, Vynce toured nationally with saxophonist Ramòn Morris, the former Art Blakey sideman. The quartet featured pianist James Wideman and drummer Eddie Layman, giving Vynce a front‑row seat to world‑class jazz musicianship and shaping his approach to improvisation and ensemble playing.
In 1978, he relocated to Syracuse, NY, joining the show group The Dynamic Insiders with The Natural Light Band, and later performing with Herb Williams and Magnum 3. Over the years, he became a fixture in the Central New York music community, contributing to multiple bands including two lineups of Fresh Aire, The Sunrise Band, and the jazz‑fusion outfit Transfusion.
His range continued to expand with projects such as Kumbatu (Reggae) and Submysshun (R&B/Funk), along with performances alongside respected local artists including Dave Hanlon, Ronnie Lee, Paulie Cerra, and The John Betsey Trio featuring Marcus Curry.
Today, Vynce remains an in‑demand bassist, bringing decades of experience, feel, and musicality to every stage. He currently performs with:
Bob Holz and A Vision Forward
The Longwood Jazz Project
Soul Citizen
Funky Blu Roots
The Bob Holz Band
And the founder of

A lifelong student of the groove, Vynce continues to evolve, inspire, and energize audiences throughout Central New York and beyond.
